Four Lenten Bible Study Options

Lent is a season of focused repentance and seeking the will of God for our lives, and one of the best ways to do that is through conversation and prayer with others. We have 4 different bible study offerings for people to participate in during Lent! Go to dauphinwayumc.org/adult-discipleship, email wilson.newell@dauphinwayumc.org for more info, or just show up!

Fool’s Gold Gospels: The 5 Stories We’ve Added to the Bible

Led by: Rev. Michael Precht

When: Sunday nights, 5:00-6:30 pm beginning February 18

Where: Dill Parlor

Join Rev. Michael Precht on Sunday nights during Lent from 5:00-6:30 pm in the Dill Parlor as he unpacks 5 approaches to faith that are often mistaken for “essential” in the Christian faith. We’ll explore how theories such as the Social Gospel, Christian Nationalism, and dispensationalism seek to go beyond the Bible and historic Christian teaching, and we’ll learn to sift the true treasure from the fool’s gold gospels all around us.

Spiritual Discussions

Led by: Dr. Woods Lisenby

When: Tuesdays, 11:30 am-1:00 pm

Where: Dill Parlor

Join us for “Spiritual Discussions,” our new class, meeting on Tuesdays from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM in Dill Parlor. This class presents a unique approach to exploring the diverse aspects of Christianity. Instead of one book, we will use different methods each week, such as YouTube videos, podcasts, and articles, to stimulate thoughtful discussion. It is open to all, regardless of previous Bible study experience. Each week’s lesson will stand on its own, so missing a session in the middle won’t disrupt participation in the class. Discover a deeper understanding of faith as we discuss topics such as the appendix to Kate Bowler’s “Everything Happens for a Reason: And Other Lies I Loved,” Rob Bell’s video “Everything is Spiritual,” The Bible Project’s series on the Shema, and much more!
